There's no end of great quilt fabric available, but for a truly unique look many quilters enjoy creating their own, so that not only the quilt pattern but also the textiles themselves convey personal style. Immersion, direct, and tie-dyeing methods are all explained here, as well as various techniques of fabric painting. Twelve quilt projects (including templates and diagrams for each) demonstrate how to transform hand-dyed materials into attractive finished quilts. There are also instructions and suggestions for about a dozen other applications, from vests to place mats to scrunchies.
