"Three-dimensional" might seem contradictory when harnessed to "decoupage," because in this art form, motifs are traditionally integrated into the surface. But as this attractive book proves, the technique creates an interesting trompe l'oeil effect and yields a depth and realism that's not possible with flat decoupage. Sometimes the dimensional qualities are achieved by manipulating the paper cutouts themselves--curling or layering them or otherwise raising them from the background. Additional options incorporate lace, ribbons, beads, metal charms, and other dimensional elements. The more than 30 step-by-step projects are grouped into stationery and gift wrap (cards, folders, gift boxes); special occasions (masks, wreaths, Easter eggs); furniture (frames, shelves, home-decor items); and keepsakes (decorative boxes, photo albums).
