Claxton was active in many of the key Canadian intellectual movements of the 1920 and 1930s. He played a significant role in the creation of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and was an active proponent of social reform, and he was also a key player in Canadian political life until his retirement in 1954. This biography brings to light his accomplishments and how they set a pattern for public service careers among males of his class. Annotation copyright Book News, Inc. Portland, Or.
