From 1959 through 1962, former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt hosted twenty-seven roundtable discussions to tackle critical issues of the day that were important to Americans, as well as to the international community of academics, journalists, philosophers, and politicians. Guests for this program: Arthur Goldberg (1908-1990), United States Secretary of Labor, and Supreme Court Justice (1962-65); Agda Rossel, Swedish Ambassador to the United Nations; Thomas Mendenhall, president of Smith College; Mirra Komarovsky (1905-1999), head of the Sociology Department at Barnard College, and author of Women in the Modern World: Their Education and Their Dilemmas. Please note: The archival material in this program went through many format changes before its present configuration. Although the film contains some insurmountable technical flaws, all efforts have been made to produce the best possible image and audio. The contents of the series, its participants, and the times in which this program were produced are invaluable resources and offset any blemishes the viewer may encounter.
