Grade 3-6-- This book is a bit fragmented, covering such diverse topics as drawing a map, reading a map, characteristics of all seven continents, locations of mythical places, how-to information for writing to a pen pal, and more. The reading is fairly easy, and the glossary is helpful, but a lengthy discussion of map reading with no illustrations of them is unnecessarily confusing. The occasional line drawings are merely decorative. How Maps Are Made (Facts on File, 1987) is a much more concise and interesting treatment of this subject for the same audience. --Trish Ebbatson, Delaware County District Library, OH
