The rationale for inclusion (and omission) of organizations in this guide is unstated and enigmatic. Population crisis, a primary factor in environmental problems, is represented only by Zero Population Growth, although many other important organizations address this issue. Listed trail-maintenance groups and birding associations are not environmentally focused in the same way that the omitted Better World Society and National Recycling Coalition are. Additional political and activist organizations could have been included. Following closely on the publication heels of Your Resource Guide to Environmental Organizations ( LJ 6/15/91), Lanier-Graham's rambling, wordy, sometimes questionable entries contrast sharply with Your Resource Guide' s well-written, well-formatted, and well-chosen ones. Libraries need only one of these new titles, and Your Resource Guide is unquestionably the better choice.
