The concluding examination of Shakers today paints a surprising picture of a modern group that, while still holding true to the basic tenets of its religion, has left part of its history behind in order to survive. This book has richer illustrations and a more complete map of Shaker history than the earlier title, and includes a helpful chart detailing the rise and decline of membership.
