About the Author
Lincoln is presently Chairman of the Department of Religious and Philosophical Studies at Fisk University and is the founding President of the Black Academy of Arts and Letters.
Aminah Beverly McCloudis professor of Islamic studies at DePaul University. She is the author of "African American Islam, Questions of Faith," and more than 20 articles and chapters in other texts. She also chairs the Islamic World Studies Program, is editor-in-chief of the "Journal of Islamic Law and Culture," and a host on Radio Islam.

Though the original was published in 1961, this third edition updates a second 1973 release by adding a new postscript by Lincoln and a new foreword by Professor Aminah B. McCloud. Together they bring the Black Muslim movement into its current perspective.
