Synopsis
The aim of this sequel and companion volume to the author's Christian REader's Guide to the Old Testament is twofold: first, to provide basic (though nontechnical) information on the background, form and content of the books that make up the NT; and second, to stimulate the reader to find a contemporary relevance in the message conveyed by these books. Ultimately, of course, it is the author's intent to bring the reader to a fuller knowledge of Jesus the Christ - not merely to present "religious" or "historical" information. To accomplish that purpose, Yohn presents a series of brief sermons beginning with an exploration of the OT origins out of which the NT grew, and without which it cannot properly be understood. He then moves on to a consideration of each of the NT books, in every instance focusing on the central themes of the book. Seven seromns on such topics as God's Will, hope, forgiveness, and resurrection conclude the study.
