Emily Mouse Saves the Day when she again demonstrates youthful resourcefulness by sewing patchwork garments for her twin baby brothers. When the house cat makes a swipe for one of the brothers, his claws catch and rip the new jacket instead of mouse-hide. George Mouse is a member of a country-dwelling family who resides in a tree stump. In George Mouse's First Summer, he is a thinker and inventor amidst the noisy activities of his five sisters. George saves the family's stash of acorns from squirrels by building a wagon with which he hauls the supply to safety. In George Mouse Learns to Fly , George, with a touch of serendipity, constructs a plane which allows him to fly high above mouse territory. Though Emily and George are unrelated (as far as one can tell), they are kindred spirits. These diminutive adventure-seekers demonstrate courage and independence.
