K Up-- Glowing illustrations give this interpretation of the Creation as found in the Old Testament the look of a medieval illuminated manuscript. The translation is smooth and graceful, a truly poetic rendering of the seven days of Creation. The artwork is breathtaking--from the swirling void on the endpapers to the addition of each element of the world--striking colors such as deep, rich golds and oranges in contrast with blues and earth tones fairly explode off the page. Each full-page painting is almost too large for the page, begging to fill up a huge canvas, yet the opposite page presents enough white space surrounding the text to rest the eye from the vivid colors.
