Kindergarten-Grade 2-- Cordelia's dream has come true--she is going to dance class. Filled with excitement and wearing a new dress just for the occasion, she arrives for the first lesson. But not only is she the only crocodile in a roomful of cuddly, furry mammals, she's also extremely clumsy. By the end of the first class, no one will dance with her, and the second and third lessons are equally humiliating. Appearing late and reluctantly for her fourth class, she spies another green and miserable crocodile. Mustering all her courage, she asks him to dance. Together, they smash and dent their way through foxtrots and rumbas--and have a wonderful time. Children will relate to Cordelia's unhappiness at being left out as well as to her joy at finding a kindred spirit. Amusing watercolors filled with animals in their Sunday best complement the text; clunky Cordelia in her pinafore and patent-leather shoes is an appealing heroine. Suzy Kline's Ooops!
