However, his five friends are frightened for him and insist on accompanying him for support. They provide the comedy, while Milo is the straight man in Luttrell's beginning-to-read book. Giannini's pencil and watercolor illustrations expand the story line and add to the humor. Worried readers will be encouraged by Milo's bravery and relieved when they discover the ache was caused by popcorn stuck between his teeth.
