Grade 2. In this four-chapter beginning reader, what begins as a simple plan to make a pet for a wizard becomes a war over which type of magic is more powerful?girl magic or boy magic. As the competition escalates into creating dragons, strange creatures, and walking trees, Perrywinkle and Andromeda become more adamant that their own magic is better. In their classroom, the students' hair grows until it fills the room and Perrywinkle grows a tail before the two friends can finally settle their differences.
