Reviews

PreS-Gr. 2. How many riddles can play off the topic of pigs? Plenty. Everything from what position does the pig play on the baseball team (snout stop) to how did the farmer find his missing pig (he "tractor down"). Even for a riddle book these plays on words get awfully repetitive, with ham, snout, and pork making frequent appearances. But though some of the riddles are, well, dumb, the pen-and-watercolor, full-page framed pictures strike their own bright notes. Cartoon-style, yes, but better executed than the art in many similar books and full of their own humor. A Dial Easy-to-Read book that will put many kids in hog heaven. (It's contagious!) Ilene Cooper
