Synopsis
Always happy to travel about with Lucy, Theodore the teddy bear is quite used to being dropped and having things spilled on him by his young owner, but when he accidentally gets mixed in with the wash, Lucy doesn't recognize her newly cleaned friend and so Theodore must figure out a way to get smudgy once again.

PreS–Over the years, Lucy's toy bear has gotten pretty dirty and sticky, but he's comfortable with his smudges. When he is accidentally taken to the Laundromat and washed along with a pile of family clothes, he becomes too clean. He falls out of the clothes basket on the way home, but Lucy fails to recognize him when she tries to find him. The lovable bear determinedly sets about getting dirty again and all ends well as he bravely extricates himself from his predicament. This is a new edition of a 1966 story with fresh illustrations in bright watercolors that have a lot of child appeal.
