Synopsis

"Hello, Mrs. Nurse!"

That's how the students greeted school nurse Carolyn Fink in a small town south of Albuquerque--where she opened wide her office and her heart.

In this moving true story, she draws us into her life of bruises, battered egos, stepped-on fingers, and heart-stopping crises. There we meet Jane, whose heart hurt after a fight with her best friend . . . Rob, who required a special remedy for homesickness . . . Emiliano, who overdosed on stolen asthma medication . . . and many other memorable students. Carolyn Fink beautifully presents an imperfect, unpredictable world full of brave children, dedicated teachers, and a few small miracles.
