Alice Munro nació en 1931 en Wingham, Ontario, y se graduó de la Universidad de Western Ontario. Es autora de doce colecciones de cuentos, dos novelas, y una novela publicada en 1971, nunca traducida al castellano.
A lo largo de su carrera, Munro ha recibido premios de mucho prestigio, y en 2013 recibe el Premio Nobel de Literatura. Conocida como la “Chéjov canadiense”, ella misma se declara en deuda con autoras de la talla de Flannery O’Connor, Katherine Anne Porter y Eudora Welty. Actualmente la autora vive parte del año en Clinton, Ontario, y parte en Comox, en la Columbia Británica. Mi vida querida es su colección de cuentos más reciente.
