Cambridge Literature is a series of literary texts edited for study by students aged 14-18 in English-speaking classrooms. Condition: Acceptable. LIGHTNING FAST SHIPPING! A heavily used, but still working copy. Coffee stain and wrinkling to the edge of the pages when a tired undergrad fell asleep and knocked their cup over on their books. The binding and pages of the book have been reinforced with tape, has tape and stickers on the cover, as well as lots of notes (some of the answers in the learning activities may be filled in) on the pages. This novel is set in the early 19th century in a small religious community known as Lantern Yard. Silas Marner, a weaver, is a highly thought about member of a dissenting chapel. Engaged to a young servant-woman named Sarah, Silas thinks that their happiness is assured. Silas finds that he is blamed for a theft by a fellow parishioner and is expelled from his congregation. He later finds that his former fiancee married the man who falsely accused him of theft. Silas Marner is highly recommended for those who enjoy the writings of George Eliot/Mary Ann Evans and also for those who are discovering this important authors works for the first time. Due to age and/or environmental conditions, the pages of this book have darkened. Former library book. Has been glued back into its covers after being shaken loose. The hinges have been meanded preserving the original covers and spine. Solid binding. Moderate edgewear on the boards. Shows more than the usual amount of shelf wear.
