In this fully dramatized adaptation of Jules Verne's classic, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Leonard Nimoy, John de Lancie, and cast members from Star Trek® feature films and all four TV series take you on an incredible journey.
Journey to the Center of the Earth is the story of Professor Lindenbrock, his nephew Axel and their quest for the secrets contained at the earth's core. Led by Hans, their Icelandic guide, Lindenbrock and Axel descend deeper into the planet than anyone has ever gone before...but will they make it back to the surface alive?
Featuring virtuoso performaces from the entire cast, riveting sound effects and original music, Alien Voices' production of Journey to the Center of the Earth is an adventure in sound.
The Bookcassette® format is a special recording technique developed as a means of condensing the full, unabridged audio text of a book to record it on fewer tapes. In order to listen to these tapes, you will need a cassette player with balance control to adjust left/right speaker output. Special adaptors to allow these tapes to be played on any cassette player are available through the publisher or some US retail electronics stores.

Unknown printing of 1965 edition. Airmont Classics Series #CL60:- Synopsis: Professor Von Hardwigg, chemist, philosopher, mineralogist, etc, while poring over a rare old edition of a twelfth-century Icelandic author, comes upon a mysterious parchment containing what is apparently a secret message written in runes. Hardwigg and his nephew and pupil, Harry, set to work and finally decode the message which reads: "Descend into the crater of Yocul of Sneffels, which the shade of Scartaris caresses, before the kalends of July, audacious traveler, and you will reach the centre of the earth. I did it. Arne Saknussemm". Von Hardwigg recognizes the name, which is not only Icelandic, but the name of a learned professor of the sixteenth century, a celebrated alchemist. Is the message genuine? Is it a hoax perpetrated by Saknussemm, even if genuine? The professor decides that they will investigate; three days later, they start for Iceland. Once arrived, they obtain the services of Hans, an Icelandic guide. The ascent of Mt Sneffels is achieved with difficulty, and they start down its crater. Thus far everything has borne out the mysterious parchment message, but Harry has increasing doubts. Then, as they lower themselves into the deeper wells by ropes doubled over the rocks above, they see an inscription on a rock below the crater - in the same runes that were on the parchment, they read "Arne Saknussemm":- (original cost $1.95).
