Part two's subjects include the elements of nuclear structure and systematics, alpha and gamma emission, beta decay, the two-body systems and nuclear forces, nuclear reactions, and neutrons. The third and final part introduces particle physics and examines leptons, pions and other bosons, baryons, weak interactions, and high-energy collision of hadrons. Problems vary considerably in difficulty, and several appendixes offer valuable supplements to the text.
