Written to youth, this timely book informs teens (and parents) what every student can do to increase his or her own safety, both at school and in the community. With 40% of all robberies involving children occurring at school and 36% of all criminal assaults involving children occurring at school, the "myth" is that the individual can do very little to prevent, deter, or avoid crime. This book challenges that myth by showing teens (and parents) what to do to protect themselves.

"This is an interesting and important book. It contains a wealth of practical, down-to-earth, sensible, and reliable information about how to keep our children safe at school. As we all know, our students are vulnerable to threats from other students and random people who walk into schools. This book should be made available to every student, to every parent, to every school administrator."
―Olle Fjordgren, CPP, CEO and security advisor, GRANIT Säkerhet, in Security Management
