The Bible contains its own "Hall of Fame," a roster of names that will live in infamy. But, the author asserts, we can learn positive lessons from negative personalities. Here Dr. Dean H. Garrison examines several evil and morally weak "bad guys" of the Bible. He chooses a few stories that aptly cover the beginning of the Hebrew nation to the Apostolic Era of the early church in the Book of Acts. The historical settings he develops are accurate biblical accounts and written in such a clear and precise way that they will engage a serious student of the Scriptures and a novice alike. This work is a great study guide and each story transitions brilliantly into the next so that it keeps the reader interested and is a page turner that is honestly hard to put down. I believe that the title does not do the contents justice. This is an example of secular history being combined impeccably with biblical stories so that they ring true and make such an impression on any reader's heart and mind, that they will not be easily forgotten. This book should be in every student of the Scripture's library, kudos to Dr. Garrison for writing such a clear-cut, thorough and fascinating book. Dr. Dean H. Garrison was head of the department of physical sciences, Ferris State College, Big Rapids, Michigan. He has written extensively for scientific and Bible-related journals.
