Journey into Etta Lorene Bailey's world, where wonderful things can happen and often do. This collection of stories and poems is filled with magical birds, a curious squirrel, a determined orphan, kind-hearted children, guardian angels, loving parents and grandparents, and even a dancing pig and a not-so-busy bee.
Speaking to small children and young adults, these sweet stories and poems address many of the issues faced by young people as well as adults. The characters deal with making decisions, following their hearts' desires, facing the consequences of their actions, and learning to appreciate the advice and guidance of parents and grandparents.
Gently introducing moral instruction and ideals, Bailey's stories move us with their simplicity and clarity, and each story, in its own way, confirms that even in the worst circumstances, with love and understanding there can always be a happy ending.

Diana Bailey Boettcher started writing stories when she was twelve years old. She and her mother inherited the Bailey family portraits and began writing a family history. They eventually wrote a series, The Secret of Bleak House, published in a children’s magazine which was the basis for Deborah Decides.
After moving to California and receiving a masters of arts from Stanford University, Diana taught English until her retirement. Pursuing a career and her mother’s death had interrupted her writing.
But she resurrected the old stories and wrote an updated version as a tribute to the Bailey spirit.
Ms. Boettcher has also written The Gypsy Heart, a novel about discrimination against Gypsies.
