Provides instructions for more than twenty simple science experiments such as planting seeds upside down, dyeing a white shirt gold, and discovering how a pendulum works

This book fulfills the promise of the title, but six minutes should not be interpreted literally. Most of the basic activities can be completed in a brief time and can be combined for a more in-depth approach to concepts. The book includes 24 experiments dealing with topics such as chemistry, electricity, and the human body.
The introduction is followed by a listing of equipment and materials accompanied by instructions for conducting the activities. The activities are presented in a manner that arouses the curiosity of children and teachers. Children have many opportunities to question and pursue their interests. The brightly colored cartoons may lead teachers to assume that the material is appropriate for children in grades K-3; however, the thought processes of the activities are more age appropriate for grades 4-7.
Six-Minute Science Experiments would be a welcome resource for any science program. The activities are challenging and enjoyable. Using these experiments would certainly expand children's understanding of science topics. -- W. R. Zeitler, Science and Children
