Reviews

It would be difficult to find a better template for an easy-to-use, nonthreatening crafts book. First, the color photographs are large and, when explaining specific procedures, incredibly detailed. Second, the nearly 20 projects and instructions are layered in terms of difficulty and techniques, starting with glass painting and etching, then proceeding to glass cutting and advanced patterns like a chalice. Third, the artist's jargon is carefully defined, and directions are clearly elucidated. Plus, there are precise caveats about safety issues, techniques to follow, and ideas to explore. Designs are fairly simple, such as a seahorse, geometric shapes, fish, and boats, among others. All in all, a very welcoming introduction to an art that boasts practitioners like William Morris and Louis Comfort Tiffany. Ideas for further projects, glossary, and templates appended.
