Synopsis
From book's back cover: "The wise interpreter will see the Bible as historically conditioned, containing purely transient material along with permanent truths. He will see the Bible, not as a predetermined divine insertion in history, but as an integral part of the historical process. He will understand that the Bible is not an infallible revelation from God, but only a part of man's search for the truth of God. He will be adequately informed in the literary and philological problems of the text, but he will also appreciate the moral and spiritual values of the text for himself and for the modern world."
