PreSchool-K-Harry is a balding, potbellied, green-haired tooth fairy. Since fairies can't grow their own teeth, he gives whatever he collects to his own children to insert into their "bubble gums." When Michael Madding decides to keep his tooth, Harry resorts to writing him not one, but two notes. The reluctant child is reminded that Mother's Day is coming and money might come in handy. Even if there is a crushing demand for Tooth Fairy-Extortion-Fiction books in your library, pass on this one. The writing is forced and pedestrian and the illustrations are truly off-putting-lots of pink fairies in lime green outfits and children who look 40. For better choices try Jon Buller's No Tooth No Quarter! (Random, 1989) or Peter Collington's The Tooth Fairy (Knopf, 1995).
