Reviews

PreSchool-K—Rex is a small tyrannosaurus who wants to be big and frightening, but his friends and family call him "little Rex" no matter how scary he acts. When his parents ask him to watch their eggs, his siblings hatch unexpectedly and try to hide in their shells when they see him. Rex discovers that what he really wants is to be "the best dinosaur big brother in the whole world. And he was!" Illustrations show the lovable Rex attempting to be scary and failing until the final picture, where he is happily playing with his new siblings. The bright and cheerful cartoon artwork, which depicts a very likable dino, makes this a good title for storyhour sharing. Of course, there are many books on big brothers, but this one has dinos and a nice tone about it.—Judith Constantinides, formerly at East Baton Rouge Parish Main Library, LA
