From School Library Journal:
PreSchool-K-- A book that succeeds as a preschool read-aloud or a bedtime story, and is a good choice for parents who are looking for a lighthearted look at separation anxiety. When the queen goes on a trip, young Princess Bee cannot fall asleep. Her brother and sister try to help, but their stories are too short. "Mum never, EVER runs out of story before I fall asleep," grumbles Bee. Comforting words from her father encourage Bee to find the solution to her problem within herself. Asher's lilting text begs to be read aloud (with a touch of a British accent and a brief bow in the direction of the royal family.) The humorous watercolors add to the appeal. Princess Bee sleeps in a bed shaped like a rabbit, and the other members of the royal family have equally special resting places. The Royal Big Sister is a bit of a tomboy; the Royal Big Brother tells Bee a swashbuckling tale. Their animated expressions and poor Bee's dejected look hit just the right note. Asher's gentle message is well delivered: traveling parents do return, and children do have the power to cope successfully with brief separations. --Gail C. Ross, Baltimore County Public Library
