PreSchool-Grade 2-- A brief, simplified account of St. Valentine leads into a first-person narration of a girl's preparation for and enjoyment of the holiday named in his honor. Told in mediocre rhymed couplets, the slight story does have some redeeming features--among them, a charming multiracial preschool class shown in warm watercolor and ink pictures full of detail. Another plus is the depiction of a loving family that includes a father who brings a cake to his daughter's class and flowers and a hug for his wife. Teachers will find this useful for preparing their own classes for Valentine's Day activities. --Eunice Weech, M. L. King Elementary School, Urbana, IL
