Fitzpatrick here combines Scripture study with a model for contemporary ministry. Antioch, Thessalonica, Corinth, Jerusalem, and Rome each called for different talents from Paul the Jew, who ministered in the Gentile world. Fitzpatrick reveals the genius, even sanctity, of Paul's ability to see in "these poor people, struggling for existence in the great cities," the ability to found a new society. The final chapter perceptively outlines some of the implications for ministry to the poor and oppressed in our cities, while also pointing out what is no longer appropriate.
