Book by Liderbach, Daniel
"synopsis" may belong to another edition of this title.
Liderbach has read and experienced suffering as reported in scripture, literature (including contemporary fiction), theological reflection, and personal testimony from a wide variety of sufferers. He calls for a remythologization of the New Testament as a basis for reflecting on the suffering and its mystery. One of the most exciting chapters is a mythic dialog between C.S. Lewis and G.K. Chesterton concerning Lewis's altered teachings about suffering after his wife died of cancer. This book, which presents a broad spectrum of views about various types of suffering, is quite useful for those struggling with what suffering says about God and humanity. Recommended for seminary and public libraries.
