Review

Veteran Hollywood reporter Louis Chunovic presents a richly detailed portrait of Jodie Foster, an enigmatic woman and elusive celebrity who first stepped in front of the camera at age three, embarking on a career that has culminated in a bevy of films and two academy awards.

From Booklist

A recurrent theme in the tortured annals of Hollywood is the difficulty encountered by child stars becoming adults. But Jodie Foster made an admirable transition to adult roles and seems neither bent on self-destruction nor possessed of a talent too meager to sustain an adult acting career. Chunovic's biography, though generally positive and supportive, is no puff job--at least, by Hollywood-bio standards. It emphasizes the business side of Foster, dishing what dirt there is sympathetically. We are not led into the tortured recesses of Foster's psyche but given a fairly comprehensive overview of her life and career in a bright, informative, readable manner. Mike Tribby
