The thirty case studies comprising "The Experience of Management" have been selected from a much larger body of problem material in library administration that appeared originally in three earlier published collections of case studies. The cases chosen for inclusion in the present volume have proven useful to students and teachers of library administration, not only at Simmons College but in other library schools both in this country and abroad. A special effort has been made to retain here those cases that are particularly appropriate for use not only in the classroom, but in institute and conference settings, in-service training programs and in the self-education of those interested in and concerned with library management.
