Synopsis

This third supplement covers books published from 1979 to 1987 plus a few earlier titles. As in the second supplement, Havlice includes titles issued by music publishers and trade houses. The arrangement of this supplement is identical to its predecessors: 1) a bibliography of books indexed, arranged alphabetically by author and coded by number; 2) an index by title, first line of song, and first line of chorus; 3) a composer and lyricist index. 'See' references from the first lines of song and chorus refer to the title entry. As in the earlier volumes, the song books indexed cover a variety of musical forms.

About the Author

Patricia Pate Havlice (M.L.S., University of Michigan) is a reference librarian at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Her earlier books are Art in Time, Index to American Author Bibliographies, Index to Artistic Biography, World Painting Index, and Popular Song Index with its two supplements (Scarecrow). Three of her books have been chosen Best Reference Books of the Year by ALA's Reference Books Committee.
