Synopsis
This book indexes the Pilgrim Hymnal published by Pilgrim Press in 1958 for Congregational churches, one of the earliest American denominations. Functioning for the hymnal as a Bible concordance does for the Bible, it provides information on the entire text of the hymns and responses. The preface explains purpose and usage. An index compares hymn numbers with the Evangelical and Reformed Hymnal. A write-in index enables adaptation to other hymnals. Hymn titles can be identified without turning to the hymnal because of the numerical index provided.

About the Author
Robert Klepper (BA, Elmhurst College; M. Div., Union Theological Seminary; STM, Princeton Theological Seminary) is a minister of the United Church of Christ. He served four churches during 40 years of ministry and has been compiling hymnal concordances on the computer since retiring. He has published In Search of a Song, a concordance of the United Church of Christ hymnal; Methodist Hymnal Concordance (Scarecrow 1987); and A Concordance of the Hymnal 1982 (Scarecrow 1989)
