    About the Author

    Nate Ostis is a member of the senior field staff for the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) and the Wilderness Medicine Institute (WMI). He is founder and director of Wilderness Rescue International (WRI) where he teaches courses world wide. He is an instructor trainer for the American Canoe Association and a Swiftwater Rescue Technician instructor for Rescue 3 International. A lifelong educator, he has instructed for the outdoor recreation and emergency programs at Boise State University, University of Utah, and Plymouth State University. Nate is also a firefighter EMT and open water SCUBA diver. He taught for an international whitewater kayaking academy and has explored rivers in over 9 countries.
