Melanie Brummer is the author of Contemporary Dyecraft and owner of Slipstream, a company that sells dyes and conducts dyeing workshops. She has been dyeing her own fabric for 20 years, starting out by selling hand-dyed T-shirts and dresses at flea markets and going on to provide custom-dyed fabric to fashion designers including Marianne Fassier, Stoned Cherrie, Sun Goddess, Black Coffee, Marion & Lindie, JJ Schoeman, and David Tlale. She lives in South Africa.
"Veteran textile dyer Brummer combines clear, thorough instructions with encouraging commentary in this primer on dyeing and printing silk scarves. Crafters...will enjoy the variety of projects in this collection, and Brummer's wry sense of humor and passion for her work elevate this book beyond a basic how to." (Library Journal 2015-03-01)
