About the Author:

John Speer Schroeder, M.D., Dr. Schroeder is nationally and internationally known for his work in cardiovascular disease. He has been on the Stanford University School of Medicine since 1970 and helped to pioneer cardiac transplantation in man. He is a popular educator and speaker and continues to do research on cardiac medicines.

More recently, he has emphasized healthy eating to both his patients and their families, realizing that this is one of the major keys to heart attacks and strokes. He has transformed the concept of a diet as "punishment or medicine" to simply enjoyable fantastic meals through the key or tracking saturated fats and the 25 gram plan.

In addition to his academic accomplishments, Dr. Schroeder has been listed in "Americas Top Doctors" Top Doctors, by San Francisco Magazine and "The Best Heart Doctors in America (2001)" by Good Housekeeping (March 1996). He has appeared on the Graham Kerr's, The Galloping Gourmet's Show; The Gathering Place, as well as many local television programs related to cardiovascular health.
