Synopsis
A study of the relationships between guerrilla forces and the US government, focusing on nine case studies from various points in history from Francis Marion's (aka the Swamp Fox) push of Cornwallis to Yorktown, to the Afghan conflicts of the 1980s. Joes (international politics, St. Joseph's U.) explores the occasions during which US-backed guerrilla forces have fought for US interests, both abroad and at home. While acknowledging that no guerilla forces stand to currently infiltrate the US, the book argues that US interests abroad may face guerrilla threats, and hence the US needs to increase its understanding of this important type of war. About the Author
Anthony James Joes, professor of international politics and director of the international relations program at St. Joseph’s University, is the author of Guerrilla Warfare and Guerrilla Conflict before the Cold War.
