American motion pictures still dominate the world market with an impact that is difficult to measure. Stanley Rothman coauthor of American Elites (1996) among numerous books, is director of the Center for the Study of Social and Political Change and is Mary Huggins Gamble Professor of Government Emeritus at Smith College.
