Seller: Rural Hours, La Grande, OR, U.S.A.
Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Association copy, inscribed on the title page to Annie Dillard: "For Annie--especially pg. 13 -- even though they edited out the dedication -- even though I wrote it before I Iearned much about sound -- + even though you'll hate the theology. With love, Jeanne, Hollins, 1981." With Dillard's bookplate on the half-title. This book was the winner of the Virigina Commonwealth University Series in poetry in 1979, an AWP award series selection, and is Larsen's first book. A really nice Hollins University association copy (a distinguished creative writing program): Larsen received her MA from Hollins in 1972, and would have overlapped with Dillard there at the time before either had published a book (Dillard received her BA and MA from Hollins in '68 and '69). Larsen would later return to become the head of creative writing at Hollins. She and Dillard also share a distinct interest in Chinese literature. A very near fine book in a near fine jacket (ivory white panels) with just a touch of wear/toning to edges and to spine crown and tail and a subtle damp mark, but not stain, to upper right side of front panel. // Wood (+) River (=) Books specializes in ecology, natural history, nature writing, the environment, and environmental literature, with a special passion for association copies and notable inscriptions. // Wood (+) River (=) Books specializes in ecology, natural history, nature writing, the environment, and environmental literature, with a special passion for association copies and notable inscriptions.
