From Library Journal:
Lovers of gardening literature will welcome this bibliography, which lists over 2300 titles, both fiction and nonfiction, in about 100 subject categories (such as roses, herbs, Oriental gardens, gardening for kids, gardening videos, and mysteries featuring gardens). The author emphasizes books published in the last 15 years, most still in print or available through interlibrary loan, although the lists of fiction contain many "classics" much older than that. The annotations are uninspired (e.g., "She gardens in the Hudson Valley" and "What happens in his 60 by 90 vegetable garden"). Though many of the subject lists are extensive and useful, a few (e.g., "magazines") are too brief and hastily done, with obvious omissions. Nevertheless, there is no other bibliography of gardening literature currently available. This list includes more fiction than Richard Issacson's Gardening: A Guide to the Literature (Garland, 1985) and will assist public librarians in collection development and reader's advisory work.
