Each entry is carefully written and researched by Hall, professor at the University of Mississippi Law School, who is responsible for another Facts On File title called Supreme Court Justices: A Biographical Dictionary (2001). The uniform biographies are about one page in length and arranged alphabetically, giving vital dates and religious affiliation followed by a chronological review of the subject's life and memorable contributions. A bibliography concludes each entry. It should be noted that this biographical series treats both the living and the dead.
