From School Library Journal

Grade 3-6 In this short book, Tac (Thomas Andrew Carter) travels from his home island off the coast of Virginia to visit his friend Steve in Pennsylvania and explore a way of life that is different from his own. Radin shows insight into how a ten year old would feel spending his first week away from home. At the same time, readers may give second thoughts to plenty of basic and ordinary sights that they may pass by daily but would intrigue a rural islander in his first encounterBraille next to numbered buttons on the elevator; sidewalks and roads that seem to go on forever. On the other hand, Tac is not the only one to learn something newhe teaches Steve ``how to talk to parents when you've been bad.'' Although this story is a sequel to Tac's Island (Macmillan, 1986), in which Steve meets Tac, the previous book does not have to be read first in order to understand or enjoy these fine friends.
