A simple biography of the brothers who launched the air age in 1903 when their flying machine stayed in the air for twelve seconds

Grade 1-2-- Woods shows how enterprising and energetic these boys were from the very beginning. Of the Wrights' adult lives, readers will learn little. The flight at Kitty Hawk is covered in a brief paragraph, after which it is revealed that the brothers built more airplanes, and that Orville carried on after Wilbur's death in 1912. Nothing is said of the honors they were given, or of the enormous impact their work had on transportation and on the world. With simple text and realistic full-color watercolors, the book may appeal to children because it is easy and because of its focus. However, it does not contain enough information to warrant purchase. --Jean H. Zimmerman, Willett Sch . , South River, NJ
