Reviews

Lovely in and of themselves, flowers are an obvious and popular subject for photographers. However, photographs of flowers must be exceptional if they are to satisfy viewers' high expectations. Previous collaborators on Focus on Travel: Creating Memorable Photographs of Journeys to New Places (Abbeville, 1993), Rokach and Millman here provide practical advice on how to deal with the challenges of photographing everything from tender blossoms to fields ablaze with spring flowers. Their useful technical advice-including specific information about working with natural light, choosing equipment, and techniques for capturing different perspectives-is well served by the excellent illustrations. Clear and detailed, their reasonably priced book is geared to amateur photographers and will be welcomed in larger photography collections in public libraries.
