CARYL FLINN is Associate Professor of Film Studies, University of Arizona, and author of Strains of Utopia: Gender, Nostalgia, and Hollywood Film Music (1992). DAVID NEUMEYER is Professor of Music Theory in the School of Music and Leslie Waggener Professor in the College of Fine Arts, The University of Texas at Austin.
