Ontology is the philosophical study of being. More broadly, it studies concepts that directly relate to being, in particular becoming, existence, reality, as well as the basic categories of being and their relations. This book is comprised of six searching essays and six divergent responses comprise a contemporary debate on the classical philosophical issue of ontological commitment: What is the criterion of ontological commitment, and how do our statements in history or in theology, or the structure of our language itself, reflect prior commitment to“what is”? - Contributing essays are by L.
